It’s a scary time to be a small business owner. Staying connected with customers is really hard when you’re bombarded with concepts such as social distancing, ‘stay-at-home’ orders, and not being an ‘essential’ business.
OUT OF CHALLENGE COMES OPPORTUNITY
As challenging as times are, it is also an incredible opportunity and staying connected with customers is where it starts. You now have a chance to cement your relationships with your customers and continue to be a resource to those who like you and rely on you for a product or a service.
STAYING CONNECTED WITH CUSTOMERS MEANS STAYING SOCIAL!
Yes, the problems are real, but with so many social media platforms, it can be amazingly easy! In fact, with just a bit of knowledge and a couple simple tips, you really can learn how to use social media more effectively and efficiently using just 10 or 15 minutes a day. In reality, you may end up interacting with MORE customers now than you did when you were limited to just those people who walked into your office or store.
HERE YOU GO… A FEW TIPS TO GET YOU GOING!
- Embrace the Engagement You Get: Don’t get hung up on the fact that you ONLY get a handful of likes, comments, or shares on each post. Be confident that whatever the numbers, every single 1 of those engagements is a vote of confidence for your post, your business, and your future!
- Say Thank You and Interact: Whether it’s answering a question or thanking someone for a compliment don’t ever pass up the opportunity to turn a 1-way interaction (your post) into a 2-way interaction with a potential customer.
- Share Your Own Stuff: Don’t be afraid to share some of your ‘Business Posts’ on your personal page! If you don’t share your own updates with YOUR friends and families, how could you ever expect your fans and followers to do the same?
- Embrace Digital Karma: Don’t just share information about YOUR business on your business page, but share the successes of some of the businesses you network with. Tell your fans about those successes and tag those businesses! You’ll be amazed how many times those businesses will then share YOUR POST and give you more engagement with people you may not have met yet.
So there you go… 4 simple social media tips that probably sound really cool but you’re wondering, “OK, so what did I just read and how do I start?”
